Polyphenylene Sulfide

PPS, or Polyphenylene Sulfide, is a high-performance semi-crystalline engineering thermoplastic. Recognized for its exceptional thermal stability and inherent flame retardancy, it is characterized by a rigid molecular structure consisting of aromatic rings linked by sulfur atoms. This unique chemistry provides PPS with outstanding resistance to chemicals and hydrolysis, even at elevated temperatures. It is widely chosen as a lightweight alternative to metals in applications requiring long-term reliability in harsh environments.

PPS is available in different grades to suit specific industrial needs:

PPS Natural: This grade offers high strength and natural flame retardance. It is commonly used in electrical components, such as connectors and bobbins, where insulation and thermal resistance are critical.
PPS GF40 (40% Glass Fiber Reinforced): By adding glass fibers, the mechanical strength, stiffness, and dimensional stability are significantly enhanced. This variant is widely used in the automotive industry (for water pumps and cooling systems) and industrial machinery for pump housings and impellers.
PPS Anti-Static: This modified grade incorporates conductive fillers like carbon to reduce surface resistance. It is essential in the semiconductor and electronics industries for manufacturing wafer handling trays, cassettes, and other components where electrostatic discharge (ESD) can damage sensitive parts.

To accommodate various manufacturing processes, we supply PPS materials in versatile stock shapes.
