PTFE Plastic

Polytetrafluoroethylene

PTFE, or Polytetrafluoroethylene, is a high-performance fluoropolymer best known for its exceptional chemical inertness and thermal stability. Often recognized by the brand name Teflon, this material can withstand continuous operating temperatures up to 260°C (500°F) without degrading. It offers excellent self-lubricating properties, possessing one of the lowest coefficients of friction of any solid material. Additionally, PTFE is virtually impervious to almost all chemicals and solvents. However, it is important to note that PTFE has relatively low mechanical strengthand can deform under load (creep), which limits its use in pure form for structural applications. Common applications include chemical processing equipment (linings, seals, gaskets), electrical insulation, non-stick surfaces, and bearings where lubrication is not possible.

We provide high-quality PTFE in a variety of stock shapes to meet diverse industrial requirements. Our range includes rods, plates (sheets), and tubes in pure PTFE. For applications requiring enhanced mechanical properties or specific functional characteristics, we also offer a wide selection of modified PTFE compounds, including:

  • Glass Fiber (GF) Filled: Improves wear resistance and reduces deformation under load.

  • Carbon Fiber (CF) Filled: Enhances stiffness, thermal conductivity, and reduces creep.

  • Graphite Filled: Provides excellent bearing properties and low friction in dry running applications.

  • Copper Filled: Increases thermal and electrical conductivity while improving wear resistance.

These modified grades combine PTFE’s inherent chemical resistance with increased durability for use in dynamic applications such as piston rings, guide rails, and compressor parts.
