What is the transportation screw? A transportation screw, also known as a transportation plug or transportation bolt, is a kind of non-standardized threaded fastener that can be fastened on the top of the load. With the development of the economy, more and more equipment is needed to carry in order to save time and money. Transportation screws play an important role in this process.
The material used for the transportation augers is POM and UPE. At Keward, you can always find the right POM rod and UHMWPE rod for the machining, or you also could let us do the precision machining for you.
It is like the plastic curved rail, in which we use POM, Nylon, and UHMWPE sheets to produce the product.
Why use POM, UPE as material for transportation augers
POM is one of the trade names used in reference to Acetal Copolymer. Acetal Copolymer is a strong engineering thermoplastic with high stiffness, strength, and hardness. In addition to being used as an industrial polymer in products like transportation screws, POM is also used more frequently in consumer applications such as toy construction sets and hobby RC aircraft.
One of the biggest benefits of using POM for augers is that it can be drilled or machined very easily compared to other plastics. The drill bit just glides through it. It comes in several colors but I prefer white because it doesn’t absorb too much sunlight which makes drilling holes in it easier.
The PE-UHMW series is a high molecular weight PE that exhibits extremely low coefficient friction. It is an excellent material in terms of wear resistance and shock abrasion, which has a longer service life than other materials. Plastic is also more environmentally friendly, compared with other materials such as metal ones. It is lightweight and easy to mold, thus reducing costs. Meanwhile, the material of choice for most transportation augers, mainly because it is less brittle than other plastic materials. UPE is softer and more flexible than polypropylene plastic, making it easier to bend when inside holes and then straightened out again. This makes it much easier to drill through materials such as brick, concrete, or asphalt.
